If you are you interested in a cultural tour in Transylvania, choose a day trip in the beautiful medieval city of Sighisoara and the surrounding places.
Friday, on 17th May we visited Sighisoara, Rupea and Racoș Geological Complex with Christine and John from Australia.
We picked them from their hotel in Brasov at 9 am, driving to the medieval town of Sighișoara, 1.5 hours away. The weather forecast was not very good the days before the tour, but now the sun decided that our guests deserved a nice day trip in Transylvania, so it came to join us for most of the trip.
Once arrived in Sighișoara, we visited the Clock Tower, symbol of the town, the Monastery Church, we learned a bit about the house where Vlad Tepes (known as Vlad Dracula) was born, few meters away from the clock tower. We climbed the Covered Stairs to the Church on the Hill and transposed back in time 600 years, thinking at the kids that were climbing the stairs to go to school every day. We walked near the wall of citadel before stopping for lunch at Casa Saseasca restaurant, in the medieval citadel itself. We enjoyed a Romanian dish, of course, beans soup in bread crust and vegetable soup.
After that, we continued our cultural tour in Transylvania with a visit to Rupea Citadel. It was a sunny day and we can took stunning pictures from the top. Christine and John had a nice surprise here (We love making small surprises to the tourists :)).
It’s evening and we’re now heading to Racos where we visit the Basalt Columns, the Emerald Lake (we assisted to a free frogs concert ) and the extinct Volcano. Nature allowed us to enjoy a very beautiful day, but now its caprices are asking for a timeslot in the unavoidable succession of day and night, good weather and rainy days. The strong wind means a storm is approaching and we need to head back. Just in time.
After arrival back in Brașov, around 7 p.m., we made a short visit the old centre of Brașov, presenting a bit more of city’s history and afterwards said thank you to our tourists for joining us on this beautiful day trip in Transylvania.
If you’d like to do this tour during your holiday in Brasov, book now.
